At Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Specialists of Newburgh, New York, we perform a variety of light facial peels as well as microdermabrasion to restore a softer, smoother, more youthful facial appearance. These skin resurfacing treatments exfoliate the outer layer of damaged skin, revealing a new layer of fresh, young skin beneath.
These are non-invasive treatments that take just thirty to sixty minutes to complete and involve little to no downtime. For optimal results, we recommend a series of four to eight treatments spaced two to four weeks apart.
When performed by an experienced medical staff, light peels are generally safer and more effective than those available at day spas and salons. We use a more concentrated peel that allows for deeper penetration and more dramatic results.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment that uses microparticles to gently exfoliate the top layer of damaged skin, stimulating new skin growth and collagen production. This is an ideal treatment for superficial wrinkles, superficial scars, acne, age spots, sun damage, discoloration, large pores and even stretch marks.
Glycolic Facial Peel
A Glycolic peel is a light peel that uses a chemical solution, glycolic acid, to exfoliate the outer layer of damaged skin. Glycolic acid is the strongest of the alpha hydroxy acids. Glycolic peels can treat fine wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, acne and dryness. There is no downtime and patients will enjoy smoother, more youthful looking skin.
HydraFacial
A rejuvenating non-invasive treatment, the HydraFacial procedure exfoliates, hydrates, and repairs the skin for a radiant glow. The basic Hydrafacial is a four-step process involving exfoliation, a glycolic peel, extraction, and serum application. Together, the steps unclog pores, remove dead skin and impurities, and infuse the skin with antioxidant serum. LED light therapy can be used to further improve the skin, removing redness or helping to prevent acne breakouts. Hydrafacial treatments are customizable for the patient’s specific skin concerns. The treatment is comfortable and soothing, and patients will enjoy smoother, healthier skin with a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots.
Illuminize Peel
The Illuminize Peel is a mild chemical peel made by SkinMedica. It is designed to be a gentle peel for improving minor skin imperfections and enhancing the overall health and beauty of the skin. Illuminize Peel treatments can brighten skin and improve its radiance for an even and youthful complexion. Because it is a mild peel, there is no downtime associated with the Illuminize Peel, and many people are able to incorporate the treatment into their long-term skincare regimen. Though patients see results after one treatment, a series of treatments with subsequent touch-ups yields the best skin-brightening results.
Vitalize Peel
A mild to moderate peel, SkinMedica’s Vitalize Peel is recommended for patients who would like to address minor skin concerns. It is a deeper peel than the Illuminize Peel, but still requires minimal downtime. This treatment is best for overall skin refreshment and for improving minor skin imperfections. Dull, rough skin, fine lines, and wrinkles can all be treated with the Vitalize Peel. This peel includes salicylic acid, lactic acid, and retinol, a powerful combination that can address signs of aging, acne scarring, and pigment changes. Patients will see best results with a series of treatments and can expect to see brighter skin with a more even skin tone and complexion once the skin has finished peeling and repairing itself.
Rejuvenize Peel
The most in-depth peel of SkinMedica’s line, the Rejuvenize Peel is designed for people with moderate to severe skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, and dull or rough skin. The Rejuvenize Peel is made from a potent combination of ingredients, including retinol, phytic acid, salicylic acid, and mandelic acid. These ingredients not only help to reduce signs of skin aging, they can also significantly improve unwanted pigmentation or acne scarring and create a brighter, radiant skin tone and complexion. Though one treatment can produce good results, patients will see better results with a series of treatments.
TCA Facial Peel
TCA peels use trichloroacetic acid and are considered a medium-depth peel. They can dramatically improve wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, skin discoloration and other skin blemishes. This peel takes approximately fifteen minutes to perform. Patients may experience some mild discomfort, though anesthesia is not necessary. Recovery lasts about three to five days.
Classic European Facial Peel
This is a traditional deep pore cleansing facial. During treatment, the face is cleansed and impurities and dead skin cells are removed with a special enzyme exfoliation and steam. This is followed by extractions, a relaxing massage, and a facial mask for balancing and restoring moisture and elasticity in the skin. The Classic European Facial can be used on all skin types and will leave the skin clean and supple with an improved skin texture.
