Discover the Comfort Benefits of Breast Reduction
For many women, the weight of large breasts extends beyond the physical; it can impact posture, comfort, and self-perception. Breast Reduction emerges as a transformative procedure, offering relief and restoration. It’s not merely about size adjustment but enhancing life quality.
What is Breast Reduction
Women with very large or heavy breasts may experience a variety of uncomfortable physical symptoms including back pain, neck pain, bra strap shoulder indentations, skin irritation, breathing problems, poor posture, and skeletal deformities. Dr. Beran performs Breast Reduction procedures at Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Specialists of Hudson Valley, NY to give the breasts a more natural-looking contour.
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the size of large breasts, making them smaller and more proportionate to the rest of the body. Dr. Beran performs Breast Reduction procedures at Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Specialists to give the breasts a more a natural looking contour.

Breast Reduction- The Procedure
Breast reduction is an outpatient procedure most often performed with general anesthesia. The most common incision used for breast reduction is an anchor-shaped one. This incision runs in a circle around the areola, extends vertically down to the crease beneath the breast, and then runs horizontally along the breast crease. Through this incision, excess fat, glandular tissue and skin are removed, the nipple-areolar complex is moved to a higher position and, if necessary, large areolas are reduced in size. The incisions are then closed.
After Breast Reduction Surgery: What to Expect
After surgery, gauze and a surgical bra are placed on the breasts and these are typically worn for several days. If drains are inserted at the incision sites these are removed within a few days. Patients may experience some discomfort and this can be alleviated with medication. Swelling and bruising are common but will fade in time. Most patients find that they can return to work and other normal activities within approximately two weeks, though exercise and strenuous activities should be curtailed for three to four weeks.

While the Breast Reduction cost can vary based on factors such as surgeon’s experience and regional pricing differences, it’s best to consult directly with a clinic for a ballpark estimate. Remember, quality care is paramount, and cost considerations should be balanced with expertise and safety.
Breast Reduction recovery usually requires one to two weeks off from non-strenuous activities. More physically demanding tasks should be avoided for at least a month to ensure proper healing.
