Soft, full lips enhance the appearance and create a youthful, feminine look. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with sculpted lips that perfectly complement the features. It is also common for people to lose volume in the lips over the years, with a lip-border that become indistinct, as part of the normal aging process. While lip augmentation has been popular for years, implants can require long-term commitment and injectibles do not always ensure desirable results.
Luckily, Dr. Ran Rubinstein has a new answer for thin, flat lips: the cutting-edge dermal filler, Juvederm Volbella®. Not only does the innovative injectable gently plump lips for a beautiful pout, it can also fill in frustrating lip lines, taking years off the appearance and reducing lip stick bleeding.
What is Juvederm Volbella®?
Juvederm Volbella® is a revolutionary, new dermal filler, designed specifically for the lips and peri-oral area. Volbella® will plump tissues, define lip contours, fill in lip lines, and smooth marionette lines. Made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that adds hydration and structure in the tissues, Volbella® replenishes lip volume. Unlike other soft tissue fillers, such as Restylane or Radiesse, the results from Volbella® can last for up to a full year. Volbella® is a smooth gel, made with Juvederm’s unique Vycross® technology, providing easier injections and a consistent flow for unmatched results.
- Create full, sculpted lips
- Improve fine lines around the lips (known as ‘barcode lines’ or ‘smoker’s lines’)
- Define lip border
- Balance asymmetrical lips
- Enhance the cupid’s bow, or ‘M’, midway across upper lip
The Ideal Candidate for Volbella®
Anyone over the age of 21, unhappy with thin or asymmetrical lips, may make a good candidate for Juvederm Volbella®. The treatment can also provide excellent results for those who have started to see thinning lips or the appearance of lip lines. Candidates should be in overall good health, understand the benefits and limitations of Volbella®, and hold reasonable expectations for their results. Volbella® is safe for both men and women, of all skin types and ethnicities. Those who have an allergy to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins should not use Volbella®. Patients who are pregnant, breast feeding, or have a history of excessive scarring may be encouraged to postpone their Volbella® treatment.
Volbella – the Procedure
Prior to the procedure, during the consultation appointment, Dr. Rubinstein will create a customized Volbella® treatment plan for each patient, ensuring the most natural-looking results. All Volbella® injections are applied in a comfortable, private treatment room at the Newburgh office. The session will take about 15 minutes. As Volbella® is premixed with lidocaine, an anesthetic, the injections are not considered painful. Most patients report only a mild pinch or pressure. Once the injections are complete, patients are free to return to their normal activities.
What to Expect After Your Treatment with Volbella®
No downtime is required following a treatment with Volbella®. The injectible’s cutting-edge properties and lower HA content mean less water is absorbed into the treatment area, therefore less tissue swelling than seen with other fillers. The soft, sculpted, natural-looking results from Volbella® will last for up to 12 months. At this time, as the body begins to safely reabsorb the HA, a repeat Volbella® treatment can maintain results.
While patients may note minor redness, bruising, tenderness, and itching after Volbella® injections, these should resolve quickly. More serious complications, such as lumps, excessive bleeding, infection, and nerve damage are rare. Years of training and experience are required for skillful, beautifully contoured lip injections that do not look artificial or stiff. Dr. Rubinstein has more than 15 years of surgical and noninvasive experience in aesthetic procedures, providing the best results in New York.
