As skin loses its elasticity and fat deposits migrate to lower parts of the face, double chins, jowls, and “turkey wattles” form, giving the face a sagging or tired look. Formerly, a facelift was the only solution to these problems, but thankfully there’s now an alternative that’s less invasive and requires less recovery time. A Precision Tx laser lift removes fat from the face, increases firmness, and restores the face’s youthful appearance using a quick and simple method.
The Precision Tx Laser Lift Procedure
The procedure takes 30 minutes to 1 hour and no general anesthetic is needed. Three small incisions, which are undetectable once healed, are made behind the ears and under the chin. Local anesthetic is then administered in these locations and a small fiber optic wire is inserted to deliver the laser energy and melt the fat, which is then suctioned out. The temperature of the tissue in the face is monitored carefully during the procedure so that there is no risk of injury. As the fat is melted the laser will also stimulate the production of collagen deep in the skin, making the face firmer and restoring its shape. Some of this restoration will take place immediately but the increased collagen production will continue to make the face firmer and more youthful for three to six months.
What to Expect Post-Op
Swelling from the procedure usually lasts about two days and most patients can return to work two to three days after. For 48 hours after the procedure a compression garment must be worn around the face and neck as the face becomes accustomed to its new structure. After the 48 hours, it can be worn simply at night for four to six weeks. Some mild bruising may occur but can be easily camouflaged with makeup. Pain is typically very mild and can be dealt with using over-the-counter medications.
