Cosmetic Pre-Treatment Instructions

Avoid using retin A, hydroquinone, glycolic acid, vitamin C topical products 48 hours before and after any of our facial and laser treatments. Upon arrival to the spa, please remove all makeup to facilitate the treatment process.

Expect to have a relaxed, stress free experience. The serene spa environment will make you feel comfortable and at ease. Most of our lunchtime rejuvenating treatments result in minimal discomfort. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Any brief skin redness from the treatment can easily be concealed with make up. Direct intense sun exposure is discouraged for 48 hours. Use of daily medical strength sunscreen will help maintain your results, prevent further pre-mature aging and decrease your risk of developing skin cancer.

We recommend that our patients not come to the office on an empty stomach.  Having a light meal or snack prior to coming is in the patients' best interest, and will leave them in a better, stronger state of mind during the procedure.

Patients should expect some mild, temporary swelling.  Bruising will occasionally occur, so we advise patients to have the treatment at least one week before any special event where they would want to look their best.  Arnica and Bromelain are very effective at minimizing swelling and bruising.  However, Dr. Rubinstein strongly advises that patients undergoing any of our 'fillers' abstain from other herbal supplements, as well as aspirin and Ibuprofen, for one week prior to and one week after being treated.  Additionally, Dr. Rubinstein strongly recommends the use of a numbing cream to reduce any discomfort during the injections.  Numbing cream can be purchased through our office prior to the procedure.
