Dysport New York

New York Medical Spa

Dysport® is an injectable treatment FDA-approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines, or frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport® is similar to Botox® and is made from the same botulinum toxin Type A. It works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, or those caused by over expression, including worry lines, frown lines, laugh lines, and crow’s feet. Dysport® is also effective in treating neck banding and may be used to treat the nasolabial folds.

There are a few notable differences between Dysport® and Botox®. Because Dysport® has fewer proteins than Botox®, it should stimulate a weaker immune response, making it a good choice for individuals who have developed a tolerance or immunity to Botox®. Also, some people believe that Dysport® is faster acting and that it may last longer than Botox®.

Dysport® – The Procedure

New York Dysport TreatmentsDr. Rubinstein performs Dysport® treatments in the office setting. Treatment is quick and takes just ten minutes or so to complete. There is no real pain associated with the injection; however, a topical anesthetic may be used. Dr. Rubinstein uses a very fine needle to inject small amounts of the Dysport® directly into the muscle. Once injected, Dysport® blocks the nerve impulses, thus relaxing the muscles and smoothing the skin’s surface for a youthful, wrinkle-free appearance.

For more total rejuvenation or to address other skin concerns like fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation problems or spider veins, Dysport® can be performed with other procedures like Restylane, microdermabrasion, facial peels or laser resurfacing.

After Treatment: What to Expect

Dysport® is a quick, easy procedure with little associated downtime or recovery. Patients are generally able to resume their normal routine right after treatment. Some temporary swelling, bruising or redness may occur at the injection site for some patients, but these are quick to resolve. The results are generally seen sooner than with Botox®, and may be seen as early as two to three days after treatment. Results may last three to six months.

Possible Complications

Complications are generally rare with Dysport® but may include nausea, respiratory tract infection, droopy eyelids, sinus symptoms, and pain and irritation at the injection site.
