Facial Liposuction

    Facial Liposuction Case Studies

Excess fatty deposits in the cheeks, jowls, and neck can be safely removed via facial liposuction. Those people who are at their ideal weight but cant lose the excess fat in their face and neck, are excellent candidates for facial liposuction. In patients with poor skin tone a neck lift may also be recommended. The neck line or facial profile may be further enhanced by chin augmentation in those patients with an under projected chin Using video imaging, Dr. Rubinstein can provide his patients with a better understanding of how facial liposuction and other procedures can change their appearance naturally.

The Procedure

Facial Liposuction is done under local anesthesia with light sedation on an outpatient basis in Dr. Rubinstein’s office operating room, a hospital, or surgical center. One to three tiny incisions in inconspicuous areas are made. A small tube, called a cannula is inserted into these incisions and excess fat is suctioned away. Dr. Rubinstein uses the latest technique called “powered liposuction”. Less force is needed to remove the excess fatty deposits reducing swelling, bruising, and recovery time significantly. One to two small stitches are used to close the incisions.

 Recovery

Recovery from liposuction is relatively easy. With the newer technique of powered liposuction, one can expect far less swelling and bruising which traditionally would last greater than to two weeks. A special facial support garments is worn for a few days to apply pressure, minimize swelling and provide support while healing. This is continued at night for 3 to 6 weeks. Continued nightly use of these garments for 3 to 6 weeks assists in retraction of the excess skin. Stitches are removed in 5 to 7 days.

Results are recognizable almost immediately and will continue to improve as swelling subsides. Routine normal activities are resumed after 2 to 4 days. Exercise and vigorous work is resumed in 7 to 10 days.

The results of liposuction are permanent. Should one gain weight after liposuction the localized fatty deposits that existed prior to liposuction can no longer balloon out of proportion to the surrounding areas.
