Dr. Ran Rubinstein performs eyelid surgery on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both as needed. Upper eyelid surgery can address sagging upper eyelid skin which, in some cases, may even interfere with one’s vision. When vision problems are corrected, eyelid surgery may be covered in part of whole by insurance. Lower eyelid surgery can improve puffy bags and excess skin beneath the eyes.

Incisions for traditional blepharoplasty are placed in the crease of the upper eyelids or along the lash line of the lower eyelids. For patients with just excess fat of the lower eyelids and no excess skin, transconjunctival blepharoplasty may be performed. In this case, the incision is made inside of the lower eyelid. Surgical times for blepharoplasty average one to two hours.

The recovery for blepharoplasty takes approximately seven to ten days. Patients may experience some bruising and swelling which can last for up to ten days. The vision may also be blurry for a period of time after surgery.
