Eyelid Surgery
Dr. Ran Y. Rubinsteinis a board certified facial plastic surgeon located in New York.
At Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Specialists of New York, blepharoplasty is performed by Dr. Rubinstein on an outpatient basis. Local anesthesia and sedation are commonly used. Incisions for traditional blepharoplasty are placed in the crease of the upper eyelids or along the lash line of the lower eyelids. For patients with just excess fat of the lower eyelids and no excess skin, transconjunctival blepharoplasty may be performed. In this case, the incision is made inside of the lower eyelid. Surgical times for blepharoplasty average one to two hours.
The recovery for blepharoplasty takes approximately seven to ten days. Patients may experience some bruising and swelling which can last for up to ten days. The vision may also be blurry for a period of time after surgery.
